Wakfu’s colorful world has just received a much-needed update as Ankama Games introduces a high-definition mode for the tactical turn-based MMORPG. The highly requested visual upgrade has been in the works for a while now and is still incomplete, but the studio has finally gotten it to the point where it can be partially released in time for the launch of the single-account server on November 2nd.

The studio notes that they’re still working on high-definition assets for the game environment and the user interface, but they’ve decided to roll out a starting HD pack to finally get the ball rolling. The pack includes new animated elements and better-looking assets for characters, monsters, equipment, resources, mounts, pets, and interactive elements in the game.

“Improvements to interfaces will not be included in this HD pack,” Anakama said. “It’s an area we’re working on bit by bit, as this project can’t be properly completed in one go.”

HD mode will be enabled by default, but those who prefer the old look can toggle it off via the settings menu in the Ankama launcher. The Steam version, however, will only be playable in HD going forward. You can catch a preview of Wakfu’s new look in the trailer below.
